Feels Like Summer

Although we "technically" have a week and a half left of school...I am feeling like Summer break.  It doesn't help that we spent the afternoon at the pool (it's called PE in the grade book).  And I started reading a new book...

I promise, it wasn't all fun and games today. 
We did math, piano, and reading. 
Along with a whole kaboodle of chores. 
But Summer can't get here fast enough! 
I've got a strong case of "summeritis"
(worse than both kiddos put together)

I have some new things happening with the needle & thread but not the camera.  Sorry.  Promise to try to take pictures of works in progress tomorrow...between playing marco polo and reviewing the identity property of addition.

Making

Messes...



And Progress...

And on top of all that I am so easily distracted
right now it's not even funny.  I have at least 3 projects in the works, 3-4 more in the sketch stage, and I was thinking of making a fabric run for something new...

(because I am SURE my stash doesn't have "exactly" what I need...we've all been there before right?)

So, in short, life is proceeding normally around here.  What about you?

Rockin' Some Polka Dots

Oh yeah. 
I like to rock a lot of polka dots.



I thought I was being so good preparing this little project for a magazine submission.  And then I realized that I was already over a week late on the submission deadline.

Silly me. 
Guess I will just have to turn it into a regular pattern.  Maybe with a stitchery version too.

What you cannot see in this picture is the embroidery work that goes on top of the wool felt applique.  And it will be handquilted when it's all said and done.

So, that's what I am doing.  How 'bout you?

Saturday Stitches

This little beauty has been In my brain for a
very long time and finally in the works
for several weeks now...
Sketching, rendering, reworking, sizing, etc...
Yesterday I traced it onto fabric.
Last night I colored it in.
Today I stitched my first stitches.

Can't wait to show you the finished project!

Oh My Ribbony Goodness!!!!

Have you guys seen these?

I was swooning in the aisle of my local Michaels.  Deciding to purchase only one and not every single piece in the collection was painful.  But, since I don't scrapbook...I decided one was enough (for today).
