I have begun decorating the house for my all time favorite holiday...Christmas. I love so much about this time of year. I love celebrating God's ultimate, and sacrificial, gift to the world. I love the lights...the music...the decorations...
So my 6 year old daughter is starting to get the bug about it too and she asked if she could have a small tree in her room for her and her dollies. I decided there wasn't much harm in this (no lights involved) and took her out to choose a small artificial tree for her room. To Target we went...I love their $1 section...where she promptly chose the following...(it was undecorated of course, we added the bling...also chosen by her)
We made the tree skirt this morning from some wool in her second favorite color, pink (can you guess what her first favorite color is...HINT it's the same as the electric color of her tree.) She is absolutely delighted with her new tree and it is proudly displayed on her nightstand for her and the dollies to enjoy. I am thrilled that she is thrilled but my inner decorator is straining to remain composed. You see, my style is more along the lines of this...
More subtle in the bling department. In fact there really isn't any bling in my decorating bling department. So, purple trees with brightly colored glass ornaments and fuchsia bows is more than a little bit of a stretch for me! HA!
But, I know that we are two peas in a pod because she is just as thrilled with her decor as I am with mine. Kindred spirits with different views of the world. More than the decor, I am thrilled that my daughter is excited to celebrate the birth of Christ as we count down the days to Christmas. What a joy it is to see her delight in that.
freedom to celebrate God's love
the joy of Christmas
purple trees that delight
Until next time,
