Well...I am off to play a little more with applique lay-out...toodles!

A Sneak Peek At Winter's Garden

I have been a little busy...the kids and I stayed indoors most of today as the air quality from the fires and all is less than great.  We played Trouble and Mario Kart Racing and did our 1st grade lesson for the day.  In between games & teaching I managed to work on this:

Winters Garden

Need A Reality Check!

This is what I got done today...

photographed 4 samples (none of which turned out quite the way I hoped...so, tomorrow I will re-shoot...hence no pictures with this post)

got the binding machine sewn to the front of a new quilt & started hand stitching it to the back

appliqued 3/4 of a new table topper

stitched 6 of 14 flowers in a new stitchery

inventoried 1/3 of my merchandise for the big show in July

took the kiddies to the park

went to the local Goodwill & scored some Martha Stewart cafe curtains, a vintage floral sheet for the booth, and a collander to hold booth goodies all for $10

had a good gab with my sister-in-law (aka side-kick) about the big show

vacuumed 1/2 the downstairs

cleaned a bathroom

cooked dinner

colored one Strawberry Shortcake picture

bagged up some old clothes to donate

danced like a maniac with the little-uns to random 80's hits from my i-tunes list

and read my Bible

Pretty impressive by most standards and yet as I get ready to call it a day I am worried that I didn't "do" enough today????????????????????????  I NEED a reality check somethin' bad!

Blessings

high energy for tasks????

counseling...I am gonna need it

dancing with my children

Braggin On The Man

I am taking a few moments to gush on my guy...most days he goes off to serve wearing a flight suit (which is cool in its own right but not the most handsomest set of duds).  But this morning he set off wearing his blues and I'm telling you he looked good...so good I am devoting this entire post to him.  I mean look at this guy...

To say that I am proud of my husband is an understatement.  He serves with honor to protect what I so often take for granted.    So, to Mr Plumcute, and all the others who serve and sacrifice, I say thank you.

Monday...No Wait Tuesday

Flowers for blog

I am not even sure where yesterday went????  I just know it is gone...the kind of gone that got nothing scratched off the extraordinarily long "To-Do" list.  The kind of gone known as two steps forward  & three back.  It is so gone...well, you get the picture.

Today has been pleasantly productive (even got something crossed of the previously mentioned list).  Kids & I weeded the planter between our house & the neighbors and got about 2/3 of the bark put in.  They rode scooters & bikes until they were melting.  We read Mrs. Piggle Wiggle (classic) and played Connect Four  After which we played the "help Mommy package buttons for the show" game.  And during morning video hour I got that piece re-quilted.  I hope to bind it tonight while watching a movie.

Tomorrow is a certain little man's 4th birthday.  We are celebrating on Friday with a trip to Six Flags to ride roller coasters until our heads spin.  I can hardly believe that my little man is four already.  It seems like just yesterday that I was doing that early labor vomiting thing that is always such a lovely part of delivery for me.  Ahh...memories.

Well...I am off to the park...I promised two certain little people a trip there today and I had better make good while we still have daylight.  I am really trying to be better about being a mom of my word.  (there are two ways to achieve this for me: One...do what I say I will do and Two: commit to less)

anyhow...blessings:

wonderful summer days

scratching stuff off the list

4 and 6...I love them with all my heart

Pretty Little Pincushions

Today is one of those hit the ground running kind of days...in fact this whole weekend will be that way!  We've got birthday parties & Fathers Day to celebrate.  I am speaking to a group of quilters in Vacaville tomorrow morning & presenting a trunk show for them.  Mr Plumcute is flying in from Ecuador tomorrow afternoon.  It's just craziness around here.  But in the middle of it all I managed to get these done...so I leave you with them...

2 Steps Forward... 3 Steps Back...

Prairie pinwheels

copyright 2008 Plumcute Designs

You may remember the sneak peek from a few posts back (although the color in this shot is better & I have given you more to look at)...All the applique work is done & I started quilting it this afternoon but 1/4 of the way through quilting the top I realized that I HATE the way the quilting is turning out.  So tonight I am going to watch CSI or Law & Order or some mindless television along those lines and unquilt.  Then I will start all over with the quilting but a different pattern & I think I need to pin-baste a little better this time as I was getting some "wrinkles" that I didn't like the looks of.  So, when I do get this finished (soon I hope) it will be photographed and going with me to the show...BTW, it's called Prairie Pinwheels.

Other than that, today was another rid the park of aliens day with the kids.  I tell ya, our neighborhood park is infested with little guys from outer space.  It's a good thing we have our anti-alien-ray guns with us or who knows what the world would be coming to???

Oh, I also got my locks cut today but don't have a decent shot to show you...mostly she just cleared off all the dead frayed stuff so that I don't look so frizzy.  Next up is a color decision...I am thinking highlights!

Well, that's it for this chickadee...it's off to unsew...

Blessings...

I didn't quilt the whole thing before I discovered that I hated the quilting

mindless television for unquilting

frizz elimination

I Just "Needed" Some Thread...

Needed...right...really...and if I say it enough I might even believe it myself!  HA!  So, based on this "need", I headed up to Auburn to get what I couldn't live without.  I love Auburn.  It is so quaint and...well, something.  I just like being there.  And, they had my thread.  Need fulfilled.

The kids and I wandered around a little bit, had a snack, took some pictures, and then headed back down the hill to Roseville.  While in Roseville we accomplished some very important birthday party supply shopping for a certain soon to be 4 year old little boy who shall remain nameless.  We (well, mostly mommy) tried on many many many dresses for the Sept brother-in-law wedding (to no avail: most were rated too im-modest by the shall remain nameless 6 year old & when your 6 year old calls it...ya listen!).  We finished up the afternoon with McDonalds & birthday gift shopping for the kids auntie who is turning 3 on Saturday (and yes, you did read that correctly...I typed the number 3).  So, I will leave you with the only picture of the little town of Auburn that seems to want to cooperate with the "new & improved" typepad...grumble...grumble...grumble...

More of a great day
