I tried to think of a shorter title. But, in truth, the one above pretty much says it all.
We traveled over the Thanksgiving break. Did the "over the river & through the woods" thing to my parents. It was a good week...kind of a working week for me but the good kind of work. I functioned as my mom's hands, feet, and "chief of staff" for Thursday.
I haven't said much (if anything ) about it here but she is going through chemo. She was diagnosed with breast cancer back in August while we were off galavanting around Sicily. Last week was a chemo week and that pretty much knocks her out for 3-4 days. So, I made sure things carried on for Thanksgiving so she could rest when she needed to and just enjoy family.
I stitched quite a bit while I was there & will take pictures as soon as I have some good lighting...or as soon as I drag out the "fake" lighting for photography.
This week is off to a busy start with magazine deadlines & back to school...hope all is well with you & that your Thanksgiving was blessed. Mine was...

I have finally reached my studio...in the grand scheme of purging my house before Christmas this is probably the hardest room for me and the one that needed it the most. To prove how serious I am about all this, I took a couple of snapshots... Fabrics going...
(mind you I have already donated 20 lbs to some ladies I know that are making dresses for orphans & quilts for the homeless)
Other stuff going...
I am about 1/2 way through and already feel so much better...maybe less junk = more creativity!
I have been stitching (up a storm actually). Stay tuned as I am on the cusp of announcing a stitchery club that begins next year at one of my local shops...pictures to tease come soon!
All right...the last 2 bins of fabric wont clean themselves out so I had better get back at it.
Blessings letting go less is more stitchery club coming soon!
Spent the afternoon in my closet...I have almost completed the task I set out to do. A couple of shelves of sweaters and I am on the home stretch.
So far, this is what I have eliminated...
So far, this is the result...
I spent over a decade in retail doing various merchandising and management jobs. My tops are organized by fabric, sleeve length, and color. Pants and skirts by color...AND, I can finger space hangers and fan sleeves like it's nobody's business but I tried to not to enter the realm of "obsess much?".
However, I would like to make a few observations:
(1) yes that is the better part of 4-feet of jackets (2) if there's an empty space in the shoe storage I am justified in purchasing a new pair (right?) (3) not all of my shoes are pictured...some are stored in clear plastic containers...obsess much? (4) I don't have dresser space (5) I might have an addiction to shoes and jackets (6) I like white hangers
Well...unfortunately, those shelves of sweaters aren't going to clean, sort, or fold themselves so I guess I'd better get back at it! Plus, I plan to do this in each and every room of our house...it's overdue...but if I am ever going to finish before Christmas (goal) I must get crackin!
Dear November... You snuck up on me. And now that you're here I am a little embarrassed to say that I am not quite ready for you. Can we please put you & and all that you represent on hold...just for a bit so I can get myself pulled together & presentable?
